What is your why?
This question gets asked throughout every real estate training program that we go through as agents. At first, I struggled to put my why into words. However cliche this may be of me, I knew I wanted to help others in a way that would be highly impactful. Helping without making anybody feel less than and doing so selflessly without expecting anything in return.
My family came to America as refugees in the late 90s after a war devastated our homeland. My parents made the ultimate sacrifice for my little sister and me by leaving everything they ever knew to give us a safe future. A church in central Pennsylvania sponsored us, and those church members helped us start our life here in America. They had toys and clothes ready for my sister and I, helped my parents get jobs, and their first car here. I think of the support we were given during this time, every day.
Our sponsors helped us in an admirably selfless way. Our appreciation is something that we could never put into words, and it paved the road for what came to be my family’s American dream. When we bought our first home, the joy was immeasurable! We still have that house to this day, 20+ years later, as it became a symbol of why we came to this country.
Why Real Estate?
Real estate isn’t just about buying the perfect house or getting top dollar for the one you are selling. It’s about putting a roof over your family’s head and giving them a safe place to come home to. The financial freedom and stability that real estate provides to us is displayed through various HGTV shows and the billionaires of America. Platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO have expanded on that and allow many investors, no matter how big or small, to build generational wealth on homes they own while enabling those homes to be appreciated by others. If you need more whys here they are:
- Real estate generally appreciates! While things like the housing crisis in 2008 can happen, they are not common.
- Real estate can provide cash flow and may allow you to be eligible for taxable deductions.
- You don’t have to use your own money to invest in real estate – there are so many options out there!
This is what real estate agents are here for. We are here to guide you through your options and provide you with all of the information that you could need to make the best financial decision for yourself and your family.
